**Buildkite**
- Dense UI with many columns — initially overwhelming
- Users on Reddit/HN consistently praise the density: "I can see everything at once"

- Verdict: Their density is a feature, not a bug

**CircleCI**
- Tried to go more consumer-friendly with redesign in 2023
- Power users complained loudly — "too much whitespace"
- They partially rolled back
- Lesson: developer tools should not copy consumer SaaS patterns
